PLEaSE

I was amazed by Prof. Dr. Raja Maznah's presentation on PLEaSE. The presentation is very clear and I understand what is it PLEaSE is all about. By practicing PLEaSE, teacher will be more prepare and creative as they have to make other learn what they have to learn. As for the students, they will experience active learning environment in which they are able to communicate with each other. I believe that this cooperative learning will make the student a better students. This is because by doing that they will be able to help each other as what Vygotsky said in his theory of Zone of Proximal Development(ZPD). The scaffolding process that occur in the ZPD will allow them to enhance their mastery in their desired area. Another interesting element that I can see in PLEaSE is that, the teacher will learn together with their pupils. It is in line with my believe in what teaching is all about. I believe that teaching is learning. Why?? In order to deliver your lesson in the most effective way, you will need to do researches, evaluation on your own teaching and others to make sure that your pupils will be able to understand and absorb the knowledge that you deliver. Since teachers will be dealing with pupils of various background, they need to equip themselves with as much knowledge as they can so that the knowledge that will be deliver delivered.

Salam iman,
Thanx for the opinion. I do agree with you about making them learn instead of teching them. However, as far as i'm concerned, most of students in rural area are afraid with English subject particularly. In fact, to make them read on their own almost impossible for the teacher, so how can we make them learn with minimal guidance by the teachers. Maybe we can try to make them learn but it might take a very long time for them to achieve the objective. Wouldn't you agree with me? hehehe

hye iman!!

well,i guess we were in the same boat..i also believed that PLEaSE will benefit both teachers and students..students can learn better by exploring n engaging themselves in the learning process while teachers can share their knowledge with students too..this is what we called collaborative learning. however, teachers in the school nowadays rarely implement this concept. do u have any idea y this is happening?

hi Iman;

i agree with u- with ur believe that Teaching is Learning. i guess teachers nowadays and for the future should really look into what situations are waiting for them once they start to be called "Teacher" or "Sir". things keep changing everyday, so as we. that's why when Dr R.Maznah came up with her PLEaSE, i can't agree more with her.

btw hopefully we will become great teachers one day

amen.

i must say i'm agree with your opinion..
nowadays technology has develop very fast and help educators and students a lot..it is very important to learn the skills to be techno savvy coz i myself have trouble in dealing with techno since i have limited knowledge about it.
Many schools own their own techno stuff but still teachers dun like to use it. dun u think so???

hi! cant say more. im interested with dr. raja's PLEaSE. i agree with the thing that teachers are learners too. those who think they are too knowledgeable or rigid, cant learn anything at all. most of the times, teachers learnt from their own students. bcoz most of the times, teachers are too immersed in their teachings and forgot about their own students. sounds familiar? this had happened long time ago.so, we as the next generation of educators, hv to change our attitude and also our mentality!
